Home Study Continuing Education Providers for Psychiatric Technicians

This list does not pretend to be comprehensive, nor is it listed in any particular order. It is compiled only as CE information finds its way to the CAPT webmaster. If you know of other sources -- or you find errors on this page -- please email the webmaster at brady@psychtechs.net.

IMPORTANT: Courses are eligible for Psych Tech CE credit if they are:

•Approved by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT).
•Approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), but only if the course content is related to Psych Tech practice.
•Approved by any other recognized nursing agency or organization if the course relates to Psych Tech practice.

If you're not sure whether a course is eligible for meeting your CE requirement, it's best to be safe by checking first with the BVNPT's nursing education staff at (916) 263-7843.

Medscape CME

A free online service of WebMD.

Medscape CME is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Their courses are acceptable for continuing education according to the BVNPT as long as the courses pertain to the Psych Tech scope of practice.
